Cuban National Assembly Vice President Ana Maria Mari Machado stated that Havana condemns the sanctions that the West has imposed on Moscow, speaking at a meeting of the Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

"We denounce all sanctions that have been imposed on the Russian Federation, every action that Europe is taking against your country, all of the measures that have been taken. <...> Cuba faced a great deal of pressure from the US more than half a century ago; we certainly understand what we are talking about," the politician said.

According to the Governor of the Moldavian autonomous region of Gagauzia, Evghenia Gutul, women play a crucial role in establishing connections between countries during times of conflict.

"We, people of Gagauzia, have traditionally been seen as rather conservative. However, we have already twice elected a woman to the post of the head of Gagauzia. <...> We see more and more people realise that the key and fundamental criteria of a successful worker, holding a high-level position, is not gender, but professionalism, knowledge, qualifications, and a trained and experienced team," Gutsul added.

The IV Eurasian Women's Forum takes place in St. Petersburg on September 18-20. It is reportedly the largest international platform for discussing the role of women in modern society.
