Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said he was "proud" despite finishing runners-up to Liverpool in their first-ever Champions League final on Saturday.

"I think we all feel very disappointed but the season was fantastic. We need to feel proud," Pochettino told reporters at a post-match press conference from the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

"I feel so proud of all my players, all the club and our fans."

The Argentine coach also refused to talk about speculation over his future.

Liverpool beat Spurs 2-0 thanks to an early Mohamed Salah penalty and a late Divock Origi strike.

It is the Reds sixth European title, twice as many as any other English team.
