The streets of Al Ain were battered by a severe hailstorm, triggering flash floods as heavy rainstorms swept across Abu Dhabi on Monday morning.

Footage shows large hailstones collecting on the roadsides as lightning lit up the skies over the Al Marakhaniya neighbourhood.

According to local reports, Abu Dhabi was lashed by hail the size of golf balls, with rains expected to continue until Tuesday.

Hail was also reportedly observed in nearby Dubai and in other regions of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), such as Al Dhafrah and Al Wathba.
