Thousands of Turkish football fans gathered at a stadium in Istanbul to watch the UEFA Euro 2024 quarter-final TV match against the Netherlands, Saturday.

Footage features football enthusiasts packed into the stadium, as they view the match on the big screen and cheer the players on. Later, fans were seen looking tense and ultimately disappointed as their team suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands. Some were seen covering their eyes and looking frustrated as the Crescent-Stars failed to win.

"It can't be helped. But the children fought very well, we really believed that we would see the final. It didn't happen, there is nothing to do. Hopefully, we will see the final and win the cup in the next tournaments. We have full faith," one of the fans said.

Another commented that the national team played very well but coach Vincenzo Montella 'made some mistakes'.

Turkey had qualified for the European Championship six times, with the best record in the 2008 edition held in Austria and Switzerland as they reached the semi-finals that year.

UEFA Euro Championship takes place in Germany from June 14 to July 14. In total, 51 matches are scheduled in the tournament between 24 teams divided into six groups.
