Dozens of displaced Sudanese from Khartoum claimed that they are facing a shortage of medical care after being placed in a local school in Wad Madani.
Footage filmed on Thursday features people of different ages inside the educational facility. Women can be seen taking care of children and making food, while men and elderly were seen resting nearby.
According to some of the displaced people, they 'suffer from a shortage of medicine', while 'many patients do not find treatment'.
"What is happening now inside this camp, which I see with my own eyes, is that the room contains a large number of people who have various diseases, you find them under the trees and they do not find treatment. There is no medical staff to carry out its duties," said Hussein Mahdi.
At least 604 people have been killed so far since the conflict erupted in April, according to the Sudanese Health Ministry.
As many as 1.2 million people inside the country have reportedly been displaced since the fighting began, with 400,000 others fleeing into neighbouring states.
The conflict in Sudan is the latest phase in a power struggle between the country’s army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF of deputy leader General 'Hemedti' Mohamed Hamdan Dagolo.
A military council has run the country since a coup in 2021, although there have been tensions between the two generals over the country’s direction, the integration of the RSF into the army, and the planned transition to civilian rule.
The council of generals took over from a joint military-civilian government, which ousted President Omar al-Bashir in 2019.
