Description

More than 10,000 contemporary artworks from around the globe went on display on the opening day of the 10th 'World Art Dubai' exhibition, at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Thursday.

Footage shows pavilions with works from countries including Russia, Japan and Iran, showcasing a diverse range of paintings, sculptures and digital art, with some even being created live in front of visitors.

"I admire this exhibition," said Russian artist Daria Sanatina, standing in front of a stunning portrait of a woman and a dog. "Many visitors come here.. [and]… show enthusiasm for the fair and inquire about the background and concepts of my painting."

Russian designer Iana Gopacheva was seen wearing a traditional 'kokoshnik' crown.

"These items were worn by women in the 19th century in Russia for their weddings," she explained.

Iranian artist Masha Ashairi is shown alongside her sculptures made from recycled metal, with one particularly intricate moving 'mobile' depicting a woman playing the double bass.

Over 400 galleries and individual artists from 60 countries are taking part in total. Prices range from 100 US dollars (367 AED) to $20,000 US dollars (73.458 AED). According to organisers, the exhibition is set to welcome over 15,000 art lovers from May 2-5.
