The fire erupted at the Aricell plant at 10:31 am and was contained at 3:00 pm local time. Approximately 100 people were working in the factory when the fire broke out, eight of which sustained injuries according to the Hwaseong Fire Department.

Officials from the fire department also said that the fire erupted after a series of battery cells exploded. The warehouse reportedly contained around 35,000 units.

Local authorities have advised nearby residents to stay indoors and keep their windows shut throughout the day.
