The streets of Sharjah in the UAE was seen waterlogged on Wednesday, after storms brought torrential rain across the country.

Footage shows cars and a coach stuck in the deep floodwaters, as well as people wading through the torrents close to a submerged carpark.

According to reports, 158mm fell in 24 hours - around the average for a whole year and the heaviest on record - resulting in traffic jams and delays to flights across the country, with Dubai airport experiencing severe flooding. Police advised motorists to exercise caution, while government staff and schools switched to remote working.

Meanwhile, the death toll from severe flooding in neighbouring Oman rose to 18, with many people still missing.
