Dead bodies and injured people were rushed to hospital after dozens of people were reported killed and many more injured by Israeli fire in and around Khan Younis on Monday as the IDF has issued a new evacuation order for the area.

Footage shows victims and wounded arriving at Nasser Hospital and clerics were seen performing funeral prayers for the deceased while close ones were paying their respects.

According to Gaza's Health Ministry, 49 people were killed and more than 186 others injured in Israeli air raids, artillery strikes and tank fire in the area after Israel's army has issued an evacuation warning via SMS, phone and broadcasts.

The evacuation order came as a response to "significant terrorist activity and rocket fire toward the State of Israel from the eastern part of the Humanitarian Area in Gaza", the IDF announced on X, adding that the humanitarian zone in Al-Mawasi west of Khan Younis will be 'adjusted' according to 'precise intelligence indicating that Hamas has embedded terrorist infrastructure' in the area.

"The IDF will continue to act against the Hamas terrorist organisation, which uses the Gazan civilians as a human shield for its terrorist activities and infrastructure," the statement concluded.

Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200 according to Israeli officials.

Israel declared war on the group and a 'complete siege' of Gaza, with a large-scale campaign of air strikes. A ground incursion began at the end of the third week, with Israeli leaders vowing to 'wipe out' Hamas. Palestinian officials reported that at least 39,000 people had been killed at time of publication.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that Hamas locations and infrastructure were targeted in the response. However, United Nations experts warned against 'collective punishment' for the people of Gaza, before predicting a 'humanitarian crisis' and then claimed that 'hell is settling in' for the region.
