Gazan doctors in al-Awda Hospital have saved a newborn through a 'miraculous' posthumous birth after the infant's mother was killed in an alleged Israeli strike in Nuseirat Camp.

"The baby is now alive and in good health. He was discharged today from the hospital and he will complete his life without a mother, family, or warm embrace," said Dr Muhammad Rayan, Head of al-Awda Hospital’s Emergency and Reception Department.

Footage filmed on Saturday shows the newborn in an incubator inside the hospital's neonatal unit, where he was receiving medical care before being discharged.

"The woman arrived here with the baby still in her womb. Thanks to God, the medical staff performed an outstanding job by extracting the baby from the deceased mother's womb," the doctor explained.

"It's miraculous how life emerges from death. This baby was brought out from his deceased mother's womb, who left this life a martyr," he added.

According to local media, the mother was killed while nine months pregnant in an alleged Israeli strike that targeted her family's home.

At the time of publication, Israeli forces have not claimed responsibility for this attack or commented on the hospital's allegations.

Fighting continues for the tenth month in Gaza after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200 according to Israeli officials.

Israel declared war on the group and a 'complete siege' of Gaza, with a large-scale campaign of air strikes. A ground incursion began at the end of the third week, with Israeli leaders vowing to 'wipe out' Hamas. Palestinian officials reported that at least 38,848 people had been killed and more than 89,459 injured at time of publication.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that Hamas locations and infrastructure were targeted in the response. However, United Nations experts warned against 'collective punishment' for the people of Gaza, before predicting a 'humanitarian crisis' and then claimed that 'hell is settling in' for the region
