Description

China's renowned Gaoyi Ridge, otherwise known as 'Knife Back Mountain', is welcoming adrenaline junkies looking for a unique hiking experience in Chenzhou.

Drone footage captured on Tuesday shows the one-metre-wide ridge as well as the mesmerising views surrounding the scenic spot.

"It takes only three minutes to reach the top, where the scenery is beautiful," one local said. "However, there are no guardrails. [...] Some people dare to walk to the very edge, while others are afraid to do so. The scenery at the top is similar to that of paid scenic areas, but the main difference is the lack of guardrails."

"I'm not afraid either, but I do get a bit nervous when walking to the very end where it's steep and narrow. However, standing at the top is beautiful. Many people say that when they visit Gaoyi Ling, they must climb Knife Back Mountain," she continued

Gaoyi Ridge is a part of Danxia landform in Suxian District. According to local media, the government has invested approximately 7 million yuan (1.03 million dollars) in the 2,442 square-kilometre area.

In the summer of 2023, the Gaoyi Ridge Scenic Area reportedly received around 6,000 tourists daily.
