Dortmund Zoo's Orangutan football prophesier, Walter, has predicted a winner for Sunday's Euro 2024 Germany-Switzerland group game on Friday
Footage captures the oracle orangutan approaching two buckets of food, one wrapped in a Swiss scarf representing Switzerland's team, and the other wrapped in a German scarf.
Walter can be seen grabbing the Swiss team's scarf and eating out of the bucket attached to it, indicating his prediction that Sunday's game will see a victory for the Swiss team.
"Walter's oracle was a little bit frustrating from a German perspective, you could say, because I would say it was a clear tip, a further tip that Switzerland would clearly win," said Dortmund Zoo's representative, Marcel Stawinoga.
"Walter has a lot of experience as a football bettor," he added. "He has already predicted all kinds of matches. He has already done the Champions League, the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the World Cup."
According to Stawingo, Walter was born in Frankfurt and spent time at Leipzig Zoo before joining Dortmund Zoo in 2006, where he came 'into direct contact with football'.
"So far, at this European Championship, Walter has never been wrong. He has guessed everything correctly. He always picks the games of Germany and the games that take place here in Dortmund," he continued.
Walter's accurate game results predictions have brought the orangutan's attention from locals and tourists, making him 'relatively popular' in Dortmund.
