Palestinian Civil Defence crews buried around 80 bodies in a 'mass grave' in Khan Younis on Monday, claiming it had received them from the Israeli army.
Footage shows Civil Defence personnel transporting the bodies from trucks while crews use excavators and heavy machinery to dig the graves.
"We are digging a mass grave to bury our martyrs, as we did to the rest of our people. Today, the occupation handed over around 80 martyrs without providing their names, data, and the location from which they were recovered," Colonel Yamen Abu Sulieman said
"Human souls are the cheapest thing in the Gaza Strip. People here cannot even afford to buy their graves," added a member of the Civil Defence.
On Monday, the government media office in Gaza stated that the Israeli army had "handed over to the Civil Defence 89 bodies" that it had "stolen during the genocide," with the Civil Defence claiming that the bodies were "skeletons and decomposed corpses."
The office added that the IDF handed over the bodies in "35 coffins only", including "13 bodies on one coffin and 22 bodies in another, and the rest scattered on several coffins."
The IDF has yet to comment on the operation at the time of publication.
Fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza broke out after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.
