Description

A pizza restaurant in Trieste has added an original twist to its pizza making, opting to try a new recipe using whole dried insects as seen on Wednesday.

"Lately, we have been hearing a lot about cricket flour, I thought I'd put the crickets on top of the pizza," Alessandro Pribaz, the owner of the restaurant stated.

The experience has also led to some backlash from some customers and reviewers.

"There are those who have brought up the conspiracy story of the Davos 2030 agenda, who have even told us that we had been paid by the European Union," a worker commented.

A poll for Coldiretti/Ixe shows just over half of Italians are against eating insects, while 16 per cent were in favour.

However, one customer at the pizzeria in Trieste described the crickets as 'tasty', while another commented on their 'crunchiness' and compared the texture to chips.
