Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed President-elect Ebrahim Raisi, the former Chief of Justice, during a visit in Tehran on Saturday.

The meeting cames as Raisi was expected to be officially announced as the winner of Friday's poll.

"The president elected today is a figure who in recent years, due to his position in the judiciary, is fully aware of the situation in the country," said Rouhani, adding, "We hope that the country will be governed in the best way."

Ebrahim Raisi is a hardline cleric close to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

"We will definitely use the experiences of the current government," said Raisi, who is set to fully take over the presidency after 45 days.
