Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that 'there is no change in Israel's position on the release outline that President Biden has welcomed' claiming that 'Hamas is the only obstacle' to the freeing of Israeli hostages during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

"With the combination of diplomatic and military pressure, the latter first and foremost, we will return them all – all 120 hostages, the living and the deceased," he added.

"Our forces are operating in Rafah, Shejaiya, and everywhere in the Gaza Strip. Dozens of terrorists are being eliminated every day," Netanyahu noted. "This is a difficult fight that is being waged above ground, sometimes in hand-to-hand combat, and below ground as well".

The US and several countries, including France, Britain, Egypt, Qatar and the European Commission, are pushing for a three-point ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The conditions include the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza's cities, the delivery of humanitarian aid and the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for some of the hostages held by Hamas. Diplomatic talks have been tense, with Hamas focusing on the prisoner exchange and Israel insisting that the demilitarisation of Gaza be addressed alongside negotiations, according to media reports.

The Israeli Prime Minister also emphasised a firm stance on 'eliminating Hamas', stressing the country's objectives of 'ensuring that Gaza never again constitutes a threat to Israel', the return of hostages and the safe return of Israelis 'to their homes in the south and north'.

On Thursday, the IDF ordered residents of Shujaiya, the new neighbourhoods, the Turkmen and Tuffah areas to evacuate 'immediately' south along Salah al-Din Street towards the designated humanitarian zone.

The war between Israel and Hamas broke out after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on northern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people and kidnapping more than 200 others, mostly civilians.

In turn, Israel launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes and ground incursions, killing at least 37,877 Palestinians and injuring more than 86,969 others as of the time of publication.
