Fans were seen gathering outside the paddock on Saturday as the Formula One (F1) circus made its way to Monza for the legendary Italian Grand Prix.

Footage shows crowds walking with Ferrari flags and browsing stalls selling merchandise from the iconic Italian team.

Monza, known as the 'Temple of Speed', is famous for its fast straights and punishing hairpin turns. The track in Italy is Ferrari's home circuit, with thousands of diehard fans ('Tifosi') coming out to support the 'prancing horses' every year.

"I liked Ferrari years ago before I became a Formula One fan. I liked their cars for years. When I was little, I was with my family in the Ferrari Museum and from then, it was obvious to me," a fan said.

The event takes place over three days from Friday to Sunday, spanning three practice sessions, qualifying and the race itself.

The 2024 F1 season looked to be a foregone conclusion, with Dutch superstar Max Verstappen in dominant form following a record-breaking 19 wins the previous year.

However, in recent months, Red Bull's hold over the driver's and constructor's championship has come under threat following a string of updates from rivals McLaren, putting British racer Lando Norris within reach of dethroning three-time champion Verstappen.

Norris looks to convert poll position to a win on Sunday, his third career victory. The McLaren driver has to fight off teammate Oscar Piastri in P2, the Mercedes of George Russel in P3 and the two Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in what is expected to be one of the most thrilling races of the season.
