Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei called the recent Iranian presidential elections 'epic,' in Tehran, on Monday.

Khamenei said, "This election was fairly epic. This election that took place was literally an epic, the people created an epic."

He also dismissed criticism from the US, saying that "The election of Iran's enemies, like the United States, was a disgraceful election in the eyes of the whole world."

"With that condition, they should not say a word about the elections, with the scandal they created," he added.

President-elect Ebrahim Raisi, the former Chief of Justice, won the election with 62 percent of the vote. Raisi, who was in the audience for Khamenei's speech, is a hardline cleric and a close ally of the supreme leader.
