Ahead of their second-leg semi-final Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag told the media in Amsterdam on Tuesday that his side is planning to “focus on what is important on the pitch” as they prepare to defend their narrow one-goal lead against the London club.

In the midst of a strong campaign, Ajax defender Daley Blind said he is, “very proud of being part of this Ajax and this special period” which has seen the Amsterdammers become the first Dutch club to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals since PSV in 2004/05. They are also the first side in European Cup history to reach the semi-finals having come through three qualifying rounds.

Donny van de Beek's first-half goal handed the advantage to Ajax in the first game in north London even as Spurs aim to reach their first ever European Cup final with a win on Wednesday.
