Description

At least six people were killed and ten others were injured on Saturday as a result of car bomb explosions in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Footage captured locals watching in horror as emergency response teams sifted through the rubble, while fire trucks doused the flames engulfing the street.

The identity of the perpetrators remains unknown; however, this type of attack has become synonymous with the Islamist militant group al-Shabaab, which has claimed responsibility for similar incidents in the past.

“Plumes of smoke covered all the area,” said one local. “I saw destroyed tuk-tuk vehicles and motorbikes. I have also seen at least three dead people and five others injured in the car bomb attack."

Somalia has registered several bomb attacks in the last few years, with groups such as al-Shabab and ISIS targeting mainly military posts as well as civilian and government facilities.
