A Russian armoured personnel carrier (APC) was slightly damaged in an explosion caused by militants on the M-4 highway in Syria’s Idlib, Russian Defence Ministry Spokesperson Igor Konoshenkov said in a press conference in Moscow on Tuesday.

The blast took place between the settlements of Ariha and Urum al-Jawz as a joint Russian-Turkish group was patrolling the territory.

According to Konoshenkov, the militants had tried to "disrupt the monitoring of the situation along the M-4 highway".

"The staff of the joint patrol was not injured. All equipment and the Russian military returned to their base," the MoD spokesperson concluded.
