Russian Grad MLRS artillery crews from the Western Group of Forces claimed to have inflicted damage on Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) positions in the conflict zone, as the Russian Defence Ministry released footage of them on manoeuvres on Monday.
The video shows an artillery vehicle getting into position, with servicemen aiming the system’s launcher-loader module and firing at a target.
"We target mainly the enemy’s manpower. Most recently we hit a Krab [howitzer], we hit dead on target," said Grad MLRS commander with the call sign 'Semyon'.
At time of publication, the Ukrainian side had not commented on the claims. Meanwhile, the AFU General Staff reported on Sunday that "there have been 90 military clashes on the front" since the beginning of the day, with combat activities taking place in Kharkov, Kupyansk, Limansk, Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk and other directions.
Moscow launched a military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022 after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), claiming that Kiev had failed to guarantee their special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and urging Ukraine to declare itself officially neutral and give assurances that it would never join NATO.
Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the country, announcing a general mobilisation, while the EU and the US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
