٠٠:٠١:٠٧A huge fire broke out in an apartment building in Ramenskoye near Moscow in the early hours of Tuesday, following reported overnight drone strikes across the region.
Footage shows the blaze engulfing the balconies of the building and smoke billowing out of the windows. The video also shows emergency services vehicles near the scene.
Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that a 46-year-old woman had been killed, with three others hospitalised following the attack in the town of Ramenskoye. Two drones were reported to have hit separate buildings in the area. Residents of affected blocks and neighbouring locations were evacuated, with 43 taken to shelters.
The governor stated that Russian air defences had shot down 14 drones in the districts in five urban districts in the Moscow region.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, 'operational air defence means destroyed and intercepted 144 Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs' over the country's territory overnight from Monday into Tuesday, with 20 of them over the Moscow region.
Three Moscow airports - Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky - were reported to have been closed temporarily, with 48 flights diverted. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that debris from a downed UAV near Zhukovsky airport was being cleared.
The Ukrainian side has not commented on the reported drone attacks at time of publication. It has previously denied targeting civilian infrastructure.
