Description

Several police officers were seen being treated at a hospital in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a diplomatic motorcade on Sunday.

"We escorted the foreign diplomats," said one of the survivors, Amanullah. "After dinner at the hotel, we headed to Malam Jabba (ski resort), but there was an explosion on the way back."

According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, a police vehicle escorting a group of foreign diplomats from Malam Jabba to Islamabad 'was hit by an IED' which killed one police officer and injured three.

"All members of the diplomatic corps have returned safely to Islamabad. <...> We honour our law enforcement authorities that remain steadfast in the face of terrorists. Such acts will not deter Pakistan from its commitment towards the fight against terrorism," the ministry’s statement read.

On Sunday, ambassadors and officials from Indonesia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Iran, Russia, and Tajikistan attended the Swat Tourism Summit organised by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
