Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Burkina Faso's counterpart Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore signed a joint statement on non-deployment of weapons in outer space on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's 79th session in New York, Saturday.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, top diplomats discussed regional and international issues and reaffirmed their commitment to developing bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, and humanitarian spheres.

Lavrov arrived in New York on Wednesday to take part in events at the UN General Assembly. Over the first three days, the diplomat held 25 bilateral meetings, including the traditional conversation with the organisation's Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and also took part in multilateral events through the CSTO, BRICS and the Group of Friends in the Defence of the UN Charter. The Minister is scheduled to address the general debate of the 79th session of the General Assembly on Saturday.
