Description

The Russian Pacific Fleet was seen conducting exercises in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan in footage published on Monday.

The video shows artillery firing at air and sea targets and carrying out other manoeuvres. A Ka-27PS helicopter is also seen carrying out reconnaissance before landing on the ship's deck.

"Servicemen practised the organisation of camouflage using smokescreens in order to protect themselves from the Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) of a mock enemy. At the second stage, the ship groups engaged in naval combat with ships of a mock enemy, performing artillery firing at surface and air targets. Self-defence anti-aircraft missile systems were also involved to defeat air attack means," the Pacific Fleet's press service said.

The drills are scheduled from June 18-28 in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan, and the Sea of Okhotsk. The drills involve approximately 40 warships, cutters, and auxiliary ships, as well as 20 maritime aviation aircraft and helicopters.

The date and location of the footage published by the Russian Pacific Fleet Information Support Department cannot be independently verified.
