In an adorable display of affection, panda cub Katyusha from Moscow Zoo was captured on video swimming and splashing her mother, Ding Ding, in the enclosure's water pool in the summer heat.
The footage, published on Friday, shows the cub frolicking in the water and then gnawing on a toy while lying on logs.
Katyusha was born in August last year. She was named after a popular Russian folk song following a public vote conducted by the city.
Her parents, Ding Ding and Ruyi, were brought to Russia from Beijing in 2019 and live in the 'Chinese Fauna' pavilion at Moscow Zoo, which was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Giant pandas, native to China, are part of a worldwide conservation programme. Ding Ding and Ruyi are part of the scientific initiative, which focuses on preserving and breeding rare species.
