Reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian cast his ballot in Iran's presidential run-off election against conservative rival Saeed Jalili in Tehran on Friday.

Footage shows Pezeshkian arriving at the polling station accompanied by former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who has publicly endorsed him. Crowds of supporters can also be seen gathering around them inside the polling station.

Prominent reformists such as former presidents Mohammad Khatami and Hassan Rouhani support Pezeshkian.

Polling stations opened on Friday morning for the second round of the early presidential election. In the first round, no candidate received more than 50% of the vote. Pezeshkian won 42% of the vote and Jalili 39%. The turnout in the first round was 40%, the lowest in Iranian history.

The elections were held a year ahead of schedule after a helicopter crashed in the north-western mountains on 19 May, tragically killing President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six others.
