Thousands of Palestinians fled Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, following IDF orders on Monday.

"Two weeks ago, they ordered us to leave Rafah. We settled in Rafah and planted mint and basil. We organised our lives there," said Abu Ahmed, a local. "But yesterday, they told us to leave, and we did. I can't walk anymore, I am tired. I will die while I am walking".

Footage filmed on Tuesday shows locals of all ages walking through the streets of destroyed neighbourhoods, carrying their personal belongings on their backs and in their hands. Trucks and carts carrying displaced families can also be seen.

"Since the beginning of the war, we have been suffering from moving from one place to another. We have been displaced seven times before, and this is the eighth time," explained Abu Baraa, another local. "There is no water or safe place to live in, here we are moving from one place to another. We’d rather die with our families in a strike than carry on this way".

"We are a family of 10 members. Where shall we go? Look at them, they are all children, the youngest is 18 months old," shared local Ahmed Abu Alyan. "Where shall I take them? Does anyone care? No one actually cares".

IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee posted on X to residents and displaced persons: "For your safety, you must evacuate immediately to the humanitarian zone". The evacuation order on Monday reportedly covered the eastern half of Khan Younis and a large area in the southeastern corner of the strip.

Fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza broke out after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army launched a large-scale campaign of air strikes and ground incursion, killing at least 37,925 and injuring more than 87,141 others, at the time of publication.
